Global Surfaces of Section and the Hopf Fibration

This bachelor project builds on the paper ’A Symplectic Dynamics Proof of the Degree-Genus Formula’ by Peter Albers, Hansjörg Geiges and Kai Zehmisch. Our focus will be on the first part of the paper, which deals with classifying global surfaces of section for the Hopf fibration. We will start by covering the basic math- ematical concepts to then visualize the Hopf fibration using the programming lan- guage Processing, and finally identify and visualize various d-sections.
