Bruhat-Tits theory associates to any reductive group G over a local field k an affine building endowed with a strongly transitive action of G(k). In this talk, we will discuss various results regarding a particular compactification of the Bruhat-Tits building sometimes called polyhedral, or maximal Satake. Initially constructed by Landvogt, it has been studied under various guises by several authors.
