Abstract
Flows on surfaces provide one of the fundamental examples of dynamical systems in low dimension and have been studied since the seminal work by Poincaré at the birth of the field. We will survey some recent advances in the study of flows on surfaces, in particular on linearization and rigidity questions in higher genus and on fine chaotic properties of area-preserving flows on compact surfaces as well as their extensions.
