In the early 2000s Bourgeois described a construction of contact structures on high-dimensional manifolds, taking symplectomorphisms as input. These contact structures have since been intensively studied and used as building blocks in various constructions. In this talk I'll sketch joint work with Zhengyi Zhou which uses modern holomorphic curve techniques to prove that Bourgeois' contact structures are always tight.
