Abstract: 

In this talk, I will discuss the problem of constructing mixing flows on surfaces. I will present a criterion for mixing for suspension flows over interval exchange transformations, focusing on the case of non-smooth roof functions. This provides a mechanism to construct mixing flows on non-compact surfaces surfaces that differs from classical approaches. If time permits, I will discuss its relation to Rokhlin’s problem on multiple mixing.
